Writer's Block: Pet central

Some animal rights activists are fighting to replace the term 'owner' with 'guardian' to convey a more balanced relationship between a person and her or his pet. Do you agree or disagree with the importance of this mission?

Who cares what you call it? People need to focus on important crap like animal abuse and puppy mills and etc, not silly sh*t like what to call the person who takes care of an animal.

Uh, well.

I guess it depends.

Seeing as...

80% of fanfiction is bad
10% of that is so bad it's funny
60% rest includes smut

...I generally don't read it. But I am rather indifferent, to be honest.

I'll go through periods where I'm like "HNNNNGHHH MUST GO FIND FANFICTION OF THIS ONE THING FOR NO REASON." Which is generally Mass Effect fanfiction, so I'll head over to [info]masseffect. Sometimes, I'll browse [info]masskink. (mainly because you can find the "weirder" pairings over there, including quite a few I like such as Saren/Nihlus, Garrus/Tali, and some goshdarn hilarious Garrus/ManShep. It's mostly Kaidan/FemShep and Garrus/Femshep smut though. Plus it's just easier because there's a searching system that someone put up.)

I write fanfiction sometimes, but generally only for myself, and 99% of it never gets published. xD

FFFFF YAY

bones - booth
I just learned that the guy(pardon the fact that I don't remember his name--I'm terrible at remembering actor's names) who played Angel plays Booth from Bones.

HNNNNGGGHHH

also my neck hurts because I went to a dance party last night and headbanged too much lol

Do you believe there is other intelligent life in distant galaxies? If no, why not? If yes, do you believe this is something to be feared and avoided or actively sought out?

I completely believe that life is possible on other planets. Emphasis on the possible. We're not quite sure of anything yet, but I'm hopefully that we're not the only ones in this big universe. There's been mathematical studies done that show the chance of life on other planets being an incredibly big amount. over heer derp derp

I think people often forget that it's possible for life to exist in many different forms. It could be based off silicon instead of carbon, they could have left-handed(as opposed to our right-handed) amino acids(like many a Mass Effect fan knows!), or their DNA could spin in the complete opposite direction than ours. It's also possible for them to just physically be completely different--there's many alternative to hands and opposable thumbs, for example the odd mouths of the Pierson's Puppeteers.

As for whether we should look for sentient life, I'm torn. On one hand, the idea of searching for aliens seems like a great idea. They may have followed a different path in technological research than us,and it could be incredibly beneficial to our species as a whole. On the other hand, they could be dangerous, and until we get our hands on a universal translator, we're basically screwed when it comes to communication. They'll probably be as "omgwtfbbq" about finding other sentient life than them as we will. I think that it's inevitable that at least at first there will be some sort of conflict because we won't understand eachother, which is sad, really...

As for if we only find non-sentient life, I don't see a downside, since they're, well, non-sentient. xD They might be dangerous, yes, but there won't be an all-out war or anything like that.

Interesting side note! Some people may know that I'm Catholic, and heartily so. Does believing in aliens conflict my beliefs? Nope. I especially find the bit about their possible lack of original sin interesting.

9/11. Hardly remember it, though.

Was in 1st grade-ish at the time, heard about it on the radio when I was going home from school.

I didn't really understand it, though. I knew what had happened and everything and how so many people had died, but it didn't really "sink in," y'know?

Not really specifically me, but I do recall that my dad and brother met one of those guys from Armstrong & Getty in a Costco one time. They said he seemed really tired and bored iirc.

I also met Bill Bennett aaaaaggggesss ago, when I was like four or something and he wasn't LOLSUPERFAMOUS, or at least four-year-old's view of what a SUPERFAMOUS person would be.

I'm not really interested in meeting famous people. :| however if I ever met Lady Gaga I'd run up to her and poke her face shouting "P-P-POKER FACE" and most likely get arrested. -cough-

Also my cockatiel is currently headbanging to the industrial music I'm playing.

HOW AWESOME IS THAAAAT.
